In recent news, life is Fayebulous.

Faye and I continued to talk. She recently changed jobs, so she had a bit of a free week as she was transitioning. My thoughts kept coming back to "Man, I'd like to see her while she's available," but I held off on saying as much. The next afternoon, she spontaneously asked, "What if I came to Birmingham tomorrow?" I replied, "Well, we'd have some fun." Arrangements were quickly cobbled together. She ended up flying into Atlanta, and I got to see her again in the spot where we first met in person. She appeared as radiant as ever - waylaying any uncertainty that I was holding onto.

I drove her back towards Auburn. We stopped in Lanett, where I showed her around some family history and she met some relatives. One of the qualities that I admire about her is how personable she is. Knowing her desire to talk to and care for my family and friends appears as a huge compliment to me.

Over that afternoon and the next day, I gave her a tour of Auburn. It was nice to finally have her on "home turf". She got a feel for the experiences that I've gone through over the past 8 years, and I believe has a richer understanding of me as a result. She got to meet a lot of the people in my life - I liked showing her off.

Parting, in the now somewhat cliche words of Shakespeare, is such sweet sorrow. I'm not sure when I'll get to see her again, but I experience an invigorating joy when I get to speak with her or think of her.

In other news, I took a small trip up to Birmingham a few weeks ago to see the gang (Kev, D, Sara, Leigh, Natalie, and Cat) for a dinner reunion. D's due to have her baby in June, so that's pretty exciting. Oh, and Cat and Lesley are getting married in July. I'll be going to San Diego in a couple of weeks for a few days on business. After that, I'll be heading to Vegas again for the month of June.

"Well, we'd have some fun."
