(Entry lost in the Great Diary-X Crash of '06)

Basically, I talked about how much I like rain. I also discussed my love for baseball over other sports and mentioned that I'd be traveling a bit. As for movies, I reviewed "Willy Wonka" positively.

One day I might try to recreate the entry in more depth.

"I love rain. I love rain. Rainy rain rain."

Haven't forgotten the journal. Just been busy getting back into school. Hope to update sometime this week.

You're going to have to qualify that.

Oh, and the links and images are up. I also added a bit to the movie section and tacked on a bonus feature.

Since no one on here comments anymore...

Baseball/softball/kickball are all fun to play for the reasons you listed. There is a "ridiculous amount of variety" in what can happen in each game. However, watching the sport is another story. I really hate the fact that it's not a timed game. When playing it though, that's the good part. But watching it is kind of slow. Plus the total uncertainty of when the game will actually end, not to mention possible rain delays, lessen the fun for me. The other sports you mentioned, except for tennis, don't have rain delays.

In a timed game such as football or basketball, you really aren't going to know whether a game is "over" until late in the fourth quarter. Until then, the losing team still has a chance to come back. I'm talking about two competitive teams, not, say, Auburn vs. a Division 1-AA team. There's not a realistic chance for the small team from the beginning.

When I watch basketball and football, I never think the game is "over" until it literally is over. That is why I stayed up to watch the entire Colts vs. Bucs Monday night game two seasons ago. The Bucs were up by three touchdowns with four minutes left, and the Colts came back and won the game in overtime. Most people would have shut the game off thinking it was "over." Most of the fans in Tampa had left the stadium by then too, and some actually came back to watch the end. Comebacks like that are rare obviously, but there is still a chance it could happen.

Also, playing pickup basketball, football, or soccer isn't usually timed. You can play to a certain score with your friends such as "to 10" in b-ball or "7 touchdowns" in football. In those games, it's just like baseball in the fact that time is not a factor in teams coming back to win. Those sports can be fun timed or not timed.

I think that baseball is just like soccer and golf for me--fun to play but hard to watch.
