Weekending
When I left of in the entry before last, I was headed into a weekend. I seem to recall hanging out on Friday night with a few people. Scotty brought Mario Golf by and I got quite addicted. I played it almost all night after he left. Saturday morning/afternoon, I woke up, he came back over, and we watched Auburn massacre Vanderbilt. In a slightly morbid sense, we hoped for a loss so that we'd get some coaching changes. Oh well. Maybe we can still pull an SEC Championship out of this.

That night, Saturday Night Mafia made its return. We had a good crowd (20 people or so) and some good games despite Scotty's ratio being quite awful and me getting picked off the first night a few times. Honestly, I didn't really care as long as people had fun.

On Sunday, we made it to church for the first time in a while and I really enjoyed the sermon. Afterwards we ate at IHOP with my shiny new 20% discount card - compliments of WEGL. Which reminds me, I'm working on laboriously redesigning their site. Here's a quick glance: Spiral.

Weekdaying
On Monday, I won a free lunch. SGA recently "appointed" "social chairs" that decided that the meeting that week would be pirate-themed. One of the guys had a hat, eye-patch, earring, and hook hand. I had decided to throw together an eye-patch (a rubberband and circle of black paper). I also taped a stuffed animal kookaburra to my shoulder since I'm lacking parrots. That was enough to win me the lunch considering no one else (out of 40-50 people) even tried to dress up at all. It was pathetic and amusing all at the same time. =)

On Tuesday, I finally decided to ask Megan if she wanted to have dinner sometime. A smile and "I'm really flattered but I'm actually dating someone right now" were the response. According to Scotty, I should have said, "Yeah, well I don't want him to come." I promised to use that the next time. Anyway, of course she's dating someone...anyone that cool about stuff would be.

How true.

Just as I was starting to feel a tad bummed, I sat down in my Linguistics behind this girl that I hadn't noticed before. As I've said previously, it's a quiet and distant-feeling class. Anyway, before I could say anything, she turns around and starts talking to me. She asks my name before I can ask hers...and I don't really remember the last time that's happened. Turns out, Marianne's really pretty cool. I started to ask her to lunch today but she seemed to have plans to meet someone else. Eh well. Just something else to think about.

Oh, and amusingly...I guess I was on a roll or something...at Navs, I talked to Robert. I asked for his permission to ask his sister on a date. I mean, I'd respect if a guy talked to me before asking my sister on a date. Anyway...he didn't quite seem to know what to do. I guess it was kind of a weird question, but he said he was fine with it...he just wasn't sure what she'd say. Ultimately, it seemed best to let that one rest for a while. Shelly's kind of quiet...I think I'll probably hold off asking for a while so I can get to know her better...which actually would be the purpose of a date, but ya know, some people hear 'date' and freeze.

On Wednesday, I don't recall much of import. Which brings us to...

Legally Bland
I turned 21 yesterday. I tried Amber Bock with my lunch. Kind of strange that the only thing I could really compare it to was champagne. In class, I felt a bit sleepy. I'm not sure if I was just tired or if it was some combination of factors. When I got home, I took a nap until Scotty, Kevin, D, and Amber came over. It was really cool how many people wished me a happy birthday. It was well over a dozen. Oh, and I even got a couple of presents. Kevin bought me "The Bourne Identity" and Scotty got "Scene It" (a DVD film-themed board game). Kevin also slipped a random happy birthday ad into the newspaper (since he helps format advertising for The Plainsman). We played "Scene It" a few times while I nursed a Mike's Hard Lemonade...now that stuff...I can get into that. Though I just had one. hehe. Yup...no sloppy-drunk 21st for me. I'm sure some of you might consider it pathetic, but I enjoyed a relaxed evening.

The Ex Factor
On a completely unrelated note....as some of you are aware, Cassie met a guy at a party a couple of weeks ago. They recently started dating exclusively. For some reason, I still felt protective. Apparently, I have "no rights", but I felt that way regardless. It's not that I want to get back together...we weren't "right" together (despite her protestations that I implied "you're not good enough"). I realized that I could've broken my thought down into four parts during our relationship. My head said, "Okay. I can try rationalizing this." My heart said, "I care about her a lot...maybe even love her." My id said, "Whoopee!" My soul said, "Uhoh. This is not good; this is not right." Now, understandly, she thinks the fourth part is crap...which leads her to suggest that the heart is more essential than the other elements. Apparently, I don't allow myself to "fully love" because I don't go with my heart.

That really is the crux of the issue though. We've got different definitions of love. Her love is mere emotion. Mine's heart, soul, and mind. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 is an oft-quoted passage, but it's appropriate here for understanding a biblical perspective of love: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." Well, I've rambled a bit. Anyway, I still care about her as a friend, and I guess that's why I feel protective.

"...of course she's dating someone...anyone that cool about stuff would be."

What the heck is this "everyone is a good person" drug-induced warm fuzzy crap that is going on? Stop replying to your own posts and *really* do the dishes. And by "the dishes" I mean ....

I like Kevin too. In fact, I love Kevin. He is the best husband ever!!! Tonight he did all the dishes after I cooked dinner. He is so sweet. Tomorrow is our two month anniversary. I am the luckiest girl ever.

marit had a good point with the drunk thing... but don't underestimate the effects of saying, "i have a bitch of a hangover," or "i woke up in this person's bed."

Now you have to mention alcohol in every entry because that's what really cool college kids do. Extra points if you frequently preface entries with "Oh, I'm soooooo drunkgngnkk."

And there you go! Before you know it, you'll be cool, too.
