Amir the Kitten is upset that summer is over. Summer Lovin' I can already feel the stress mounting. I'm generally pretty laidback (perhaps too much so), but the obligations are building. There never seems to be enough time when school starts.
This past summer was the longest break from school in three years. It didn't really bother me...school was just a constant. Sure, there were a few weeks off every now and then, but I never really had time to get into a full-blown pattern of life. That changed this summer. I actually readjusted to Chattanooga life and the idea of working. Once my salary got cut, I felt as though I was back to leeching. I'd like to get a job, but I'm too committed. In fact, I'm feeling overcommitted, but I'm not sure what I can do to help being so.
Super-Involved Summer life didn't have deadlines. Now, they're back in full force. Between building websites for WEGL and SGA...connecting with Navs, church, a Bible study, and friends...keeping in touch with family and friends in Chattanooga...involving myself with MUN and classes...working on everyday errands...well, it's just a lot. I'd like to get back into acting, but I'm just not sure how that'll be possible. Here's a quick rundown of my week:
Sunday: church, ultimate (possibly), and homework Monday: Electromagnetics, Great Books 2, Analog Electronics, radio shift, SGA office hours, SGA meeting Tuesday: Spanish Phonetics, Linguistics, WEGL office hours, Spanish American Civilization 1, wings with Scotty & Dave, Navigators Wednesday: radio shift, E-mag, GB2, Analog, WEGL meeting Thursday: Phonetics, Linguistics, WEGL office hours, SpanAmCiv1, MUN meeting Friday: E-mag, GB2, Analog Saturday: football, Saturday Night Mafia
I still have to manage to squeeze a Bible study or two in there, I want to check out the ISO, and I'd like to work-out, but aside from the occasional round of [DDR], I'm not sure there's time. Since I'm already talking about school, I guess I ought to sum up my classes to this point. Basically, I've got some great teachers (I've had 4/6 before), most of the material ought to be interesting, and I know quite a few people in the engineering and Spanish classes. The only people I've really met of note are Megan in Phonetics and Tara in GB2. Luckily, I know a couple of guys in E-mag. Unfortunately, all the people in Analog are really barely acquaintances; I'm slightly worried since that will probably be the most difficult class. Phonetics ought to be the most fun. Linguistics is really interesting, but it's one of those really quiet classes where it's difficult to meet people. Perhaps the upcoming group project will help. Hmmm...seems I just jumped back into [Auburn] without transitioning into an active two weeks.
College Bound When we last left our protagonist, he had just returned from a grand trek in the woods...and speaking in third person gets tired and pretentious quite quickly. So anyway...almost as soon as I got back to civilization, I packed up and headed down to Auburn. I stopped briefly in Atlanta to see my dad. He was having dinner with Annie and a big group of adults at someone's house. As an aside, I wonder when I'll actually refer to myself as an adult. Anyway, we chatted for a bit, with most of them giving me advice on going on a date with Annie's neighbor's daughter. Yes, they're attempting to set me up on a blind date. No, I'm not dismissing it, but I'm not putting much thought into it either.
I arrived back in Auburn to find my place in a bit of a mess. It wasn't too bad, but like my brother, Kevin has a tendency to be quite messy. I spent a good deal of my time attempting to clean out my guest/storage bedroom in anticipation of my brother moving in. That Sunday morning, Scotty, Kiki, Elisa, and I went to Whispering Oaks after church and had a good meal while discussing reality tv (I'm not much of a fan of it). I don't think I've mentioned it before, but WO is a Southern food place in an old plantation-style mansion. That afternoon, my mom, my sister, Arika, and Jonathan all came down to help my brother move in. I think the whole thing went pretty well, and the place actually looks quite good after getting another bookshelf. Oh, and we had Thai food that night. After two times in a week, it's quickly moving up my favorites ladder.
School didn't start until Wednesday, so we had a few days to pick up books and get Ray oriented. Oh, and I also spent one night showing him and Dixon the on-campus disc golf course. Sadly, much of it is torn up for construction at the moment, and after months of barely throwing a disc, I really suck. After months of playing ultimate, my brother's quite good. He quickly joined Auburn's team, and went to a tournament in Savannah the first weekend.
Living For The Weekend I already mentioned classes, so there's not much to say until the weekend. It was the first weekly installment of Saturday Night Mafia (which we're considering changing to bi-weekly). There was a pretty decent-sized crowd. Would've been quite large if Navs hadn't been having a leadership retreat. Ought to be interesting to see what happens this Saturday after the big game (Auburn vs. USC is huge).
I've actually gotten out a lot this past week aside from missing MUN this week. However, I did go out on the concourse and act as carnival barker for our booth yesterday, so I think it'll be okay. As I've mentioned, I'm a little frustrated with how full my schedule is getting and how much more I want to do. Adding to my frustration, I've attempted to get our wireless network working, but it hasn't gone very well. It's a bit of a blow to my pride when I can't get something computer-related working, but Ray and Dixon's friend G is coming to help tomorrow.
Miscellany Not much more to add at the moment. Actually...I remember something I wanted to say (but had neglected to) back when I was making the cast page. In poring over the old entries, scouring for names, I reread a lot of my old entries. I started sympathizing with Amber's frustration with me. I came across like a desperate idiot a lot. Kept making me cringe how much I'd base entries and my mood on the latest "girl news".
