Have to have a picture to break up a the monotony of text. This is an old shot that I took in Scotland a few years ago of some kids at a park.

I was doing better. After a couple of days of pain and everyone trying to get my mind off of things, Cassie and I were beginning to look like we could be friends.

Let's take a look back at the events of this week...

The Week
Monday night was really sad and I stayed up quite late. Tuesday, I missed my classes, and went to eat dinner with the guys and went to Navs. Matt asked me if I wanted to come along with him and some friends to see a movie afterwards. So, I ended up seeing "Phone Booth". Acting was good, ending was blah.

Wednesday...I'm having a difficult time remembering for some reason. Oh wait...that was the night that a bunch of Auburn people got together again and chatted. Cassie was talking to quite a few people I knew, so I decided to fire up the invite and get everyone together. I ended up having conversations with a few people that I'd met online before, but never talked with to any depth. In particular, I talked to Mal. I guess I should start with Shades though. Shades is this guy that has been posting on the PMB about as long as I have. We've gotten into it a few times over the years, but within the past month, we started IMing and we've gotten to be friends. About the same time, there was a big elections debacle at Auburn. So, I got everyone on the PMB together in an AIM chat. Well, Shades meets this girl Mal (and her friends) and they hit it off pretty well and actually become friends and hang out. Keep in mind, Shades has shielded his identity from most everyone up until that point. In fact, he still refuses to tell me. Hopefully, I'll meet him here in about 6 hours.

Anyway...jump forward several weeks. I'm talking with a bunch of Auburn people again and end up having a conversation with Mal. I often try to do a little investigative work to figure out who people are, but she's a freshman, so it didn't really work. She asked if I wanted to see a picture. We traded some pictures. I offered to crop some of her photos and we ended up having a good conversation that night. I then proceed to do stupid things. When I have a good conversation with a new person, I tend to try to pick the conversation back up as soon as possible. I guess I'm realizing that while I'm patient with things and simple stuff, I'm impatient with people. I usually want friendships/relationships to be less gradual and more immediate, and that's the rub. They don't work that way. They flow over the course of days, weeks, and years.

The Weekend
Okay...so, Friday hits, and I'm hyped. After school, I talked to Shades and Mal for a while. As they leave, they tell me they have to go to Wal-Mart. Ten minutes later, Amber, Ros, Leigh, and Natalie pick me up to go shopping for Kevin and Deidre's engagement party the next day. Lo and behold, they tell me that we're going to Wal-Mart. I figure..."Hey, maybe we'll run into Shades and Mal." So, I looked around for a second when we walked in the door, didn't see them, and assumed they'd already left. I didn't give it a second thought. Well, they hadn't left. In fact, they saw me and my blue hair (which the chicks still don't dig). They just saw me and Leigh and no buggy. So, when I got home I had Shades greet me with, "dude that's not cool". Apparently, it appeared that I was stalking. After a brief trial, I was able to explain myself.

At the store, I picked up some blue Peeps and did my usual Seinfeld "What's the deal with...?" that I have a tendency to do when I shop with other people. Anyway...later that night, I dropped by the concert they were having on campus, met up with some people, and invited everyone back to my place afterwards to hang out. We actually had a pretty good crowd and quite a few new people. Scotty should've shown up...there were actually more girls than guys. Anyway, we played some Scattergories, some Mafia, and the last few stragglers and I watched "Fight Club" into the early morning. Robbie and I had seen it. Two of the girls liked it and one didn't. Think they thought it was too graphic and didn't quite get the point.

The next day, I woke up in the afternoon, drove the bbq place to pick up the food for Kev and D's party, found out they didn't accept credit cards, ran to an ATM, and finally bought the stuff and took it over to Kev's place. After that, I went home, showered, and changed into my party get-up. Amber liked the shiny, silver shirt in my closet so much that I decided to get some use out of it. So, I've got my black pants, a shiny shirt, no glasses, and spiked blue hair. I was ready to party as soon as Scotty lent me his sunglasses to wear the whole night. Everyone was pretty amused and kept telling me that I was the only person that could pull it off. I told them that I doubted I was pulling it off, but that I was grateful for the compliment. Yes, there will be pictures later. Also, Matt and Mike continued their habit of insisting to call me 'Big Sexy'. "It's funny cause it's ironic." If they keep it up, I'm worried I'll start using it in the third person. "Big Sexy likes the ladies."

Early on in the party, we (around 30 people) sat around and played some games. One in particular was an eating game. I was the first volunteer and actually managed to win, but I hadn't known it was an eating game when I volunteered. Basically, two people were paired up and had to bid on how many bites they'd eat a mystery food in. I beat Scuzz by eating a huge wad of chocolate chip cookie dough (about the size of my fist) in two bites. Certainly the coolest was what Ros did though. He actually swallowed the joke food - a live goldfish swimming in a glass of water. Hard to beat that one. Later on, we got in a few hours of dancing, which was really unexpected and fun. My only complaint was that my right foot hurt. I'm still kind of limping around. Finally, we finished out with some really big games of Mafia. I wasn't really too happy with the way I played a couple of the rounds, but it was still fun.

So, that brings everything up to this afternoon when I hit those realizations about being impatient. I apologized to Mal for basically messaging her too much. I also apologized to Cassie for not trusting her and having taken her advice more while we were going out. Tonight, we got in a warn war, which created some havoc. Also, Shades and another guy decided to try to freak me out by quoting back in the Auburn room part of a private conversation I'd had with the other guy about a month ago. They then proceeded to deny the whole thing, and everyone seemed pretty upset by the end of the night. I think I'm going to stay off of AIM for the next few days. It frustrated me too much today. I was pretty sure that Cassie was really mad with me about the warnings, but I just read her latest entry and that makes me feel better.

The Procrastination
Not too much else to say...I need to do laundry, shower, eat something, and figure out an oral presentation for French within the next six hours or so. I was feeling quite bad when I started this entry, but I'm actually feeling a good bit better right now. Eh well. Au revoir.

"It's funny cause it's ironic."

It's been two weeks Marchant... your time is up, this update is overdue.

Posted by bored @ 04/28/2003 06:32 PM CST

You will live in a House.
You will drive a peach flying cup and saucer.
You will marry Vash the Stampede and have no kids.
You will be a ne'er-do-well in a mountain fortress.

Heh heh!

First off... "nega-marit" should use their real name. If you are going to go around name-calling, have the guts to identify yourself.

Secondly, you're saying that because my religious perspectives are different than yours, I am ignorant. Therefore, I am going to call you ignorant because your religious perspectives are different than mine. Very well then.

Third, I can understand why Marchant couldn't be in a relationship with me because we have different views. It's not entirely my fault that Marchant couldn't live with that. It's only half. Just because we have learned and been exposed to different things in life, doesn't mean that he is right, I am wrong or I am right and he is wrong.

Fourth, he is not the only one eating this metaphorical "cake." You might want to try and see both sides of the story. For someone who seems to know a lot about cakes and pies, you sure forgot about the other half. For someone who claims the right to judge others, you're not doing such a swell job. I'm eating half of the "cake" here too.

Fifth, until you know what you're talking about, don't speak. If you'd like to speak, try getting the other side of the story. IM me sometime, the sn is puppynapkin. If not, just click on my name below and e-mail me.

the metaphor was not cheesy and inconsistent! cassie, the cake represented the relationship. the cream pie represented ignorance. relationships are good, and ignorance is sometimes bliss, but not in this case. you shoved your ignorance of eternity in everyone's face last week. by "everyone," i meant everyone who reads the journal entries. this ignorance was the main reason that marchant dumped you, right? he made the right decision and it's your fault that he's now lonely and eating the "cake" by himself.

hey people, falsely assuming identities is not a cool thing.

Well, I thought he would have told you, since he said you were confused. I told this to him and he changed the names on the entries. To spell it out:

I didn't write the cream pie thing, and I don't know who did or why they would use my name or what they meant.

I don't really know or care enough about your relationship to write some cheesy, inconsistent metaphor.

The end.

okay... this has been confusing me for a while now. speaking non-metaphorically, marit, what exactly was that "cream pie" that i shoved in everyone's face? who exactly would "everyone" include, anyone specific? and finally... marchant left ME... i didn't MAKE him lonely, he made himself lonely. we're both picking up the pieces here.

just wonderin'. that's all.

in response to "no girl..." a warn war is when a bunch of people get together, im someone and when someone ims you back, you click the warn button. once the percentage gets high enough... aim freaks out and until it has time to wind down a little, whoever has like... 100% can't really chat. you usually need at least two people to gang up on one person because after 35%, you can't warn someone anymore. that's what friends are for.

i had a piece of cake. it was really good. i also had a cream pie. that was good too. sandy likes cream pies. she shoved one in everyone's face last week. that was not good. now marchant is left eating the rest of the cake by himself. that is not good either. that is loneliness. sandy has made him lonely.

Posted by nega-marit @ 04/15/2003 10:22 AM CST

Oh yeah, here's a joke for Sandy:

Why did Beethoven get rid of his chickens?

All they said was "BACH BACH BACH"

HOO HOO HOOOOOOO!!!

How do elephants get up trees?
They sit on an acorn and fall asleep.

How do elephants get down from trees?
They sit on a leaf and wait for autumn.

Why are crocodiles long, thin, and flat?
They walk under trees in autumn.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
