Hmm...seem to have locked myself into a pattern, but eh well, I need something to pretty up this place. hehe.

It's been a while since I did a non-gigantic-review update and you guys haven't really left many comments this past time, but I'd like to be able to do a simpler review again.

Musical Reflections
Ever have one of those songs that really gets you pumped? Like, you blare the stereo and yell along with it? Less Than Jake has a song like that...I've probably listened to it thirty times since I bought the album a few years ago. I listened to it for the first time in two years the other day. It's kind of an emo/punk/ska song. I'm not sure if I could ever bring myself to yell along with it if anyone else was in the car with me, but it's kind of fun. It's a release and it pumps me up at the same time. Click the link to listen to it.

Al's War
Al said goodbye to his mom and dad for the first time in his life
tonight left the house and walked out to the waiting car outside
and somehow he thought they'd never understand that nothing lasts
and he just knows that time is just spinning by
and life is passing him by so fast
And sometimes I think I'm the only one
that feels like going nowhere is like giving up
Al said to me a few days ago
that he just thought for the first time in his life
he feels the last 10 years were only a waste of time
and that it was only a compromise of what he always felt inside
his declaration of independence
said to me under the orange street lights
he was the one
who always did the right thing
he was the one that listened to everything they'd say
but today he's never going back

The Weekend
Last Friday, I went home briefly to see my brother's senior play. S'called "Stage Door" and he was quite good in it. I think his acting keeps getting better. The next day, I watched him play ultimate in a pretty frustrating tournament for his team (they got outscored 52-3 in four games, I believe). He's a good player, he just didn't have the support he needed. While I was visiting, I also got to hang out with my sister a little bit. I feel bad for not seeing her as much anymore. I haven't seen my mom much lately either, but she was out of town for the weekend. Oh, I did get to see Evan and Becca for the first time in a few months though. They came over Friday night and we sat around talking for a while.

Kevin and Scotty called that night to tell me that they had called everyone to move the party to Kev's place on Saturday night. I suggested that they were joking, but they played it for a while. I said that if it was true, it was probably the meanest thing Kevin had done and that I'd feel backstabbed. I guess they felt that I place too much importance on people showing up...that I think it's a popularity contest. I don't think it's that...I just like having people over. Kevin has hosted a lot of parties (which seems to annoy him and Andy sometimes), and I enjoy being able to host a get-together every now and then. Anyway...they eventually admitted the ruse, and I mentioned how I really didn't care if they were mean to me, but I do become more aware when several other people come up and ask why they're so mean to me. Kevin spent a while amusingly trying to prove that Scotty actually gives me a harder time. It's not that they're so bad separately...they just have a habit of getting on a roll when they're together. Like I said though, doesn't really bother me though...maybe I'm too accepting and laidback sometimes (probably why they know they can get away with it).

On my way back to Auburn on Saturday, I got to see my dad briefly at lunch, and I attempted to stop to play a new version of DDR in Atlanta. Unfortunately, the line was too long and I had to get back, so I didn't get to play. When I got back, it was around 7. I had told people to show up around 7:30. Two people showed at 7:35. Two more at 8:00. By 8:30 most of the people had come. I suppose I'm just reiterating what plenty of people have said before when I mentioned the way people are always fashionably late. It freaks party-goers and newbie hosts out, but I usually don't worry about it. I was expecting possibly 30 people. Around 15 showed up...which was fine. Some people had felt there were too many people the previous week. We also mixed it up by playing some other games and interesting Mafia variations. I almost won as Mafia (for the first time in quite a while)...got down to me, a doctor, and an attorney. Eh well, we had lots of fun. I also made a new link/start page this weekend though I doubt it's of much interest to anyone. It's a handy idea that Kevin gave me a while back.

I sent Sandy her Valentine's Day gift on Monday. I didn't really get her anything too big...some cards, chocolate, a little stuffed animal keychain, and some earrings. I got her gift in the mail today, but I haven't been able to open it yet (apparently, she needs to be on the phone when I do). Sucks not being able to see her on V-day...only five more weeks till I go out there again though.

I think that's all I've got on my mind at the moment, so until...whenever...probably soon...later.

Here's the picture I promised last week of Kevin trying to get the frisbee off of the thin ice:

Some more pictures from the retreat.

"...maybe I'm too accepting and laidback sometimes (probably why they know they can get away with it)."

Ah, the things this blog reduces to when Marchant doesn't update....

I just hope everyone else learned a lesson from that story... and I really really really hope that Marchant doesn't play "monkey see, monkey do"... he tends to stray from the thinking process. :o)

J/K love ya, sweetie.

Oh my God! Is that true?! DavidW, does it still hurt?! What color is it now? I would totally hate for that to happen to my boyfriend.

I was out with DavidW one night when something terrible happened. He got his you-know-what stuck in a beer bottle. Well, he couldn't pull it back out because it was pretty stuck. So, I stood there and laughed while he had to break the beer bottle against a wall. Needless to say, he had some cuts and scratches from that incident. Maybe that's why he can't get any women today. He's afraid they're going to find out about that incident.

I met DavidW once and he is nerd and couldn't get a woman from bridesbymail.com. If you saw him with a woman it probably was just a fluke, accident, or mistake.

This said, please discontinue this thread.

david wharton is the guy that marchant mentions in his journal entries sometimes. he doesn't mention him a lot but when he does, he calls him davidw. by the way, david wharton goes to georgia tech and used to go to high school with marchant. at least i think that's what he told me.

Posted by thinker @ 02/24/2003 12:04 PM CST

Who is David Wharton?

Posted by Addy @ 02/20/2003 11:43 AM CST

Thanks Whitney! I love you! Diva forever girlfriend!

Marchant, tell Sandy not to be sad about Valentine's Day. You will be going out there to see her in a few weeks, right? So, now, sing her this, which is part of one of my greatest hits--"So tonight is the night/ and the feeling's all right/ We'll be making love the whole night through/ So I'm saving all my love for you."

Thanks for the compliments...although i think the frisbee skills might have seemed better because the rest of the team wasnt any good. We actually ended up winning a trophy believe it or not. Hopefully the level of acting will continue to rise since it wasn't all that great.

Ah-Choo! This whomps! This is the second year in a row that I've been sick on Valentine's day. I missed out on my "girls' night out" and seeing "Daredevil" AND I don't get to see you.

Now do you see why Liesel and I practice Anti-V-Day, Marchant?
